I wanted to start this Substack as it seems like a nice space to share the more intimate moments of life. Things like: my approach to wellness, cooking each week, recipe’s I’m loving, new learnings, interviews with people in my community, travel diaries and recommendations, my approach to movement, how to slow down, rituals I’m practicing, my natural approach to skincare etc etc etc.
I’m not so good at sharing everything over there on Instagram, like my thoughts or talking to camera, I certainly am envious of those who can so effortlessly. I’ll go to record a video and as soon as I start speaking it’s all over, I can’t even imagine hitting “share” to the big wide web. I get taken back to the nerves I felt before a performance on the big stage in school. But hey, who knows, maybe I’ll be chatting away over there sometime in the future. For now we meet here, a safe little nook written from the comfort of my tatami mat. I’ve got “music for creative writing” playing softly in the background and a hot tea brewing in front of me while I type away.
What excites me is to feel whole, to feel that my body is working for me and not against me. I want to wake up energised from my sleep, I want to go for a run and not hate every second, I want to eat food and not feel sick or bloated afterwards, I want to be able to find time in the day for myself and not feel guilty about it. I guess I want to feel free? I’ve found it’s often the simplest things, not the complicated or expensive ones, that help me feel this way.
You may know of me from Instagram as the girl who shares nice pictures of trees, home cooking, my face and washing vegetables. What you may not know about me is that I’m a Certified Health Coach, I personally find this title a little cringe but basically I am passionate about nourishing the mind, body and spirit and empowering others to do the same.
I’m an introverted extrovert, I can be a little more quiet and reserved in social settings but I love to have a full social calendar, or at least know that there is lots to look forward to. My partner Adam is the complete opposite, people assume he’s an extrovert as he’s really good at engaging with everyone in a social setting, but really he’s thinking “how long do I have to be here” haha, opposites attract I guess!
My favourite day of the week is Sunday, we have a slow morning, go to the markets, I wash everything and organise the fridge, maybe a trip to mum and dad’s for lunch and then I’m horizontal on the couch with Ads watching the footy, cold beer in hand and cheesy nachos in the oven. I still don’t know many of the rules or really what’s going on at all, but hey, we call it quality time. Balance is important right?
I hope this Substack titled Nice Nothings nourishes you in all the ways you may need it. I’m hoping to share regularly every month, whether I’m here sitting in my living room in Australia or somewhere else in the world, you’ll be hearing from me!
It feels nice to get to know you better through sharing your thoughts and daily routines. Thank you! 😊💕🌸
